Indigenous student self-identification

Stand proud and strengthen the Indigenous community at Loyalist! Indigenous students are encouraged to self-identify to learn about upcoming events organized by the Centre, access academic support from Indigenous student ambassadors and tutors, connect with a range of resources and more.  

Identification is a voluntary and confidential online process by which you identify yourself as an Indigenous student. No proof of ancestry is required. Learn more about self-identification and submit your form:

I have a Bachelor of Arts – Indigenous Studies from Laurentian University, a Bachelor of Education (Indigenous Teacher Education Program) and a Master of Education (Special Education) from Queen’s University. I am currently working on my PhD with a focus on Indigenous education. 

I have over twenty years of experience in education and have been at Loyalist College for just over one year. I have to say that Loyalist College is a fantastic place to work, and I am honoured to be part of such an amazing team!I love spending time in the Centre with our students and working with the Loyalist College staff to begin the process of actioning Truth and Reconciliation.

Hello everyone, my name is Kristin Maracle, and I am from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. I am a bonus mom to two kids and nana to a granddaughter.   

Through my work with Loyalist, I hope to create a brave space for you to feel comfortable to visit and access our services.  Feel free to reach out if you have questions regarding a program or to set up a tour of the college. I look forward to meeting you!

Shé:kon my name is Iakotakienni Froats. I am a Haudenosaunee woman from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, and I am bear clan. 

I have experience in many areas: I have worked as a heavy equipment operator, PSW and social worker. 

I completed a Bachelor of Social Work at First Nations Technical Institute through Ryerson University. I started working in the Tsi Titeawaya’ta:roroks Centre in 2022. My experience here has been life changing. I have grown immensely, and my coworkers have become family. I look forward to meeting new students every year and supporting people in achieving their goals.
