The College encourages a culture where all community members act in accordance with our values which are Caring, Creative, Engaging, Inclusive and Accountable. Loyalist College will not tolerate or condone personal harassment.
Personal harassment refers to a course of vexatious comment or behaviour by a person who knows, or ought reasonably to know, that the behaviour is unwelcome, and
- Would reasonably be regarded as intending to intimidate, offend, demean or humiliate; and/or
- Results in a harmful work environment; and/or
- Constitutes the abuse of an unequal institutional power relationship or misuses authority.
The following are actions which community members will undertake to support a respectful College community:
- Act in a manner that demonstrates mutual respect for the dignity and worth of others
- Refrain from engaging in, condoning or ignoring behaviour inconsistent with a respectful environment
- All supervisory staff and faculty will promptly address concerns and complaints within their area of responsibility as outlined in the resolution procedures
- Attempt to resolve concerns in a manner that respects one another’s differences and contributions
Establishing and maintaining a respectful college community is a shared responsibility of all College community members.
