Are you an international applicant?
International applicants are those who wish to study in Canada but aren’t Canadian citizens or permanent residents under current immigration laws. The mature student clause does not apply to these applicants.
International students can apply through the following methods:
1. Education agent
We’ve partnered with education agents around the world. Agents are very knowledgeable about our programs, services, processes, and procedures. Using an agent to submit your application can make the process more efficient.
2. Direct application – student
International applicants can now apply directly to Loyalist College via the International Application Service (IAS). Within the IAS portal, you can:
- Create a new application
- Upload supporting documentation (transcripts, payment receipts and study permits)
- Receive offer notifications and Letter(s) of Acceptance (LOA)
- Download proof of payment documentation for a visa application
- Download LOA for a visa application
- Upload visa/study permit approval to notify the college
Ready to apply? Here’s how!
Step 1: Create an OCAS International Application Service (IAS) applicant portal account
Step 2: Pick your program(s) and upload documents
You can find our current program availability for upcoming intakes here.
Choose the program(s) you’re interested in on the IAS portal. Our team will need these specific documents to assess your eligibility:
- Passport
- Original/certified and translated (if applicable) copies of your secondary/post-secondary transcripts or equivalent
- Original/certified secondary/post-secondary diploma/degree
- Proof of English proficiency
- Resume/Employment letter if the applicant graduated over two years ago
Step 3: Pay and submit the application
Once you have paid the $110 application fee via Flywire, it is important to return to the IAS portal and click SUBMIT to complete your application.
You can monitor the status of your application, upload supporting documentation and review offer decisions on the IAS Portal. It is important that applicants meet all deadline requirements to maintain admission.
- If your application is approved, you will receive a letter of acceptance (LOA)
- If your application is not approved, you will receive email notification through the IAS portal.
Step 4: Download LOA
Woohoo! Your application has been approved. You can now download your LOA from the IAS portal.
- Note: You will need to download your LOA to support your visa application.
Step 5: Pay the tuition and download the receipt
To secure your place, you must confirm your acceptance offer and submit the tuition deposit by the deadline stated in your LOA. Missing payment deadlines may lead to loss of admission. Payments must be made via CIBC International Student Pay or Flywire. Payments will be confirmed with a receipt from Flywire for each transaction. Once full payment is successfully received, Loyalist College will confirm payment through the IAS portal within three-to-four business days.
- Please note: You must download proof of payment for your visa application. Receipts are issued only after the college receives full payment. International students must demonstrate proof of financial sufficiency to support themselves throughout their stay in Canada as per immigration requirements.
Step 6: Apply for a visa/study permit
After receiving your LOA, contact your nearest Canadian embassy or consulate to start your student visa/permit application process (cic.gc.ca). Once approved, upload your visa/study permit to the IAS portal and click “visa-received” to initiate pre-registration. Upon pre-registration, you’ll receive details about registration and access to the myLoyalist portal. Please consult the college’s key dates for travel planning.
Step 7: Plan your travel
Our staff are here to support you as you prepare for your arrival in Canada, ensuring a smooth transition. Please review the Coming to Canada web page for details.
