Bridging options (RPN to BScN)
Option 1: Loyalist College Bridge Semester (Full-time for one semester; in-person at the Belleville campus)
Apply and be admitted into the Loyalist College in-person bridge semester. You’ll complete a bridge semester in the Spring term and then join the Nursing – Honours Bachelor of Science program in the Fall term in semester five.
Option 2: Nursing Transformation: RPN to BScN Bridging Pathway (Online)
Students who are in-progress or who have completed the online Nursing Transformation: RPN to BScN Bridging Pathway can apply for advanced standing into semester five of the Nursing – Honours Bachelor of Science program.
RPNs who apply must:
- Be a graduate of an Ontario College Practical Nursing diploma program in the last seven years with a minimum of 75 percent in all courses.
- Must be currently registered as an RPN with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in good standing.
- Have recently worked for a minimum of two years full-time post-graduation as an RPN.
Yes. Loyalist College Pre-Health Science advanced diploma and degree stream graduates or with an equivalent Pre-Health advanced diploma and degree stream certificate from another college and who have achieved an overall average of 75 percent or higher, and a minimum grade of 70 percent in all courses will be eligible for admission consideration.
Yes. Applicants who have successfully completed an Ontario College Practical Nursing diploma program with a minimum overall average of 75 percent and a minimum grade of 70 percent in each course will be eligible for admission consideration.

Students will have the opportunity to complete a placement starting in semester two, typically located within a 100 km radius of Loyalist’s Belleville campus. Students are responsible for securing their own local accommodations and transportation.
- The program typically takes a minimum of four years.
- If you have approved transfer credits, your course-load per semester may be lighter but the length of time is likely to remain four years.
- RPNs who have completed the bridge semester are eligible to enter into semester five of the degree program.

Yes, Standard First Aid and CPR HCP certification must be valid for the duration of the program.
- An up-to-date immunization against certain communicable diseases is required as part of the registration process.
