Confirm your Offer of Admission
Confirm your offer of admission by logging in to your application on the International Application Portal or by contacting your agent to do so on your behalf. Upon receiving your Letter of Admission (LOA), contact the nearest Canadian embassy or consulate to begin the process of applying for a student visa and/or study permit (cic.gc.ca).
Tuition Payments
Payment for tuition must be received by the deadlines outlined below.
- New Students or Existing Students Starting a New Program: Payment due dates are indicated on your LOA. Payment must be received to hold your spot. If your first payment is not paid by the specified due date, we will be unable to hold your seat. Note: It can take 2 – 3 business days for funds to arrive at the College and to be added to your student account. Once a payment arrives on a student account, a receipt will be issued within 48 hours on the application portal to use with a study visa application. Please continue to check the application portal for the issued receipt.
- Returning Students: All semester fees for returning students are payable no later than the following dates, except when otherwise advised by the Registrar’s Office. If a student does not pay their fees before the deadlines stated below, a $250 late fee charge will be applied to their account.
- Fall Semester: August 1
- Winter Semester: December 1
- Spring Semester: April 1

*Fees as stated are subject to change. The above tuition and fees are based on two semesters of study in year one. Note: To qualify as a full-time student, your course load must represent at least 70 percent of the hours of the courses required for the semester of the program in which you are enrolled.
**Combined Ancillary and Tuition HST Fee
Students will be expected to pay a $900 co-op elective fee or a $2,800 applied project fee in the fourth semester of applicable programs instead of tuition.

This estimate is only a guideline and does not include any money for returning home or visiting other parts of Canada. This estimate will permit an adequate but far from luxurious standard of living. Your first month will be expensive as it will include settling-in costs such as paying an extra month’s rent as a damage deposit and purchasing warm clothing, textbooks and supplies.
Refund Policy
Students who have been admitted to Loyalist College in Toronto and who have received a Study Permit are expected to register and attend classes in the program to which they were admitted and complete the semester for which they have paid tuition. However, the College recognizes that there are some unforeseen circumstances in which a student may be allowed to withdraw and leave Loyalist College and receive a refund of their tuition fees.
International students who withdraw give up their admission and status as students at Loyalist College in Toronto. Information about students who withdraw will be reported to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. It is the student’s responsibility to notify Immigration Canada of any institutional change. A student who withdraws and who later wishes to return to Loyalist College in Toronto must re-apply for admission.

Withdrawal and Refund Process
No exceptions will be made for students who register or apply late. To request a refund, submit the completed International Refund Application Form to the contact specified below prior to the 10th day of classes.

- All international refunds will be returned to the original payment’s country of origin via the same Flywire account.
- All refunds for payments originating in Canada will be processed via cheque. Funds cannot be refunded to Canadian accounts or other post-secondary institutions.
- Refunds take approximately four to six weeks from the date of processing at the College to be issued.

1. Booking Your Flight
Students arriving for a January start program should NOT plan to fly during the December holiday period. The College is closed the week between Christmas and the new year, so it is recommended to book flights after January 2 to avoid holiday fees and complications. View the Academic Schedule.

2. What to Bring
It is important to check with the airline to ensure you understand baggage allowances and item restrictions. Electrical currents in Canada are different from most other countries, so it may be better to purchase electronic appliances within Canada. Please do not place anything of value in your luggage (money, jewelry, etc.) and be sure to carry your luggage with you at all times.

The following is a suggested packing list only. You may wish to purchase some items upon arrival in Canada due to their size and weight.
- Pillows, bedding, towels, etc.
- Personal hygiene items
- Clothing for Canadian weather, which can vary from below zero to 100 degrees Farenheit depending on the season
- Informal clothing for class – both men and women wear slacks, blue jeans, sweatpants, etc.
- More formal clothing just in case – dress or skirt for women, shirt and tie or suit for men
- National dress, instruments, or other traditional material for international activities
- Outdoor clothing such as light/heavy coats, rainwear, umbrella, hat, scarf and gloves
- Pictures of family or other things you love from home, for comfort and encouragement
- Medicine until you become familiar with what is available in Canada
- Prescriptions with doctor’s instructions or medicine with English translation, if necessary
- Record of immunization
- Favourite spices or any non-perishable foods
- Canadian currency to cover immediate costs such as rent, textbooks or groceries (we recommend at least $1,500 CAD)
Pre-departure Checklist
Prior to leaving your home country, ensure that you have:
- Appropriate visa and immigration documentation
- Loyalist College Letter of Acceptance
- Valid passport and study permit authorization
- Carry-on bag with emergency personal items in the event that your luggage is delayed/lost
- Name and address of the people with whom you are staying
3. Housing Assistance
We understand that having a comfortable place to live while attending College is important. However, finding a place of your own for the first time can be a challenge. Please contact housingsupport@tbcollege.com to learn about housing options to fit your preference and budget.
4. Currency Considerations
When you arrive in Canada, try to have at least $1,500 CAD in cash. International Currency Exchange service is usually available in the arrival halls of Terminals 1 and 3 at the Toronto airport. We also recommend that you carry enough travellers’ cheques or bank drafts to cover at least your first month’s expenses, as there will be extra costs in the first month (such as rent, damage deposits and books) and this can amount to $1,000 – $2,000 CAD. Do not depend on bank cards as your only source of cash as banks will sometimes put a hold on funds for a few weeks; it is very important that you can access money for your rent and living expenses right away.
5. Immunization
Some programs, as part of the admissions requirements, and to meet legislation for placement in various community facilities, require the submission of the Loyalist College Immunization Record. This must be completed and returned directly to the Health Centre. It is advisable for all international students to bring proof of immunization and medical records to Canada regardless of whether it is required for your program.
6. Preparing for the Weather
It is important to be prepared for the climate in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Southern Ontario has four distinct seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. Useful information can be found below:

Winter clothing
- Coats: A good, warm coat will be your most important item of clothing. We suggest a thick waterproof coat.
- Boots: We recommend buying boots with a thick lining and thick rubber soles that will not slip on the ice. Thin-soled, unlined boots do not provide the warmth required during the winter months.
- Gloves or mittens: Wool or fleece-lined mittens keep your fingers warmer than gloves; a good brand for warm gloves and mittens is “Thinsulate.”
- Hat and scarf: Make sure your hat covers your ears and that your scarf is long enough to wrap around your neck. Your scarf should be made from wool or another warm material. Silk scarves will not keep you warm.
Clothing materials
- Wool: Wool is known for its warmth and is worn in the winter and late fall. Wool socks and sweaters are great for the winter.
- Cotton: A light and soft material, many clothes in Canada are made from cotton. Cotton underwear, socks, shirts, pants etc. are good for summer, spring and fall.
- Polyester: This fabric is excellent for exercising and sports, polyester pants, jackets, shirts etc. In the winter, wear polyester “fleece” for warmth.
