Eligibility for OSAP

Ontario residents may apply for full time or part time OSAP, depending on your course load. The following is Loyalist College definition of full time and part time, which may be different from The OSAP website definitions. Ontario residents should apply online at ontario.ca/osap. The application will then be downloaded to the institution you plan to attend.

Out-of-province residents may make an application for financial assistance to the appropriate government department of their home province. The address can be obtained from the financial aid office at the university or college in their home area or from the Loyalist College Financial Assistance Office at 613-969-1913, ext. 2425 or 2226.

Full Time Students: To be eligible for full time OSAP funding, you must be registered in a minimum of 60 percent course load each semester (Fall/Winter, no averaging course loads) either by hours or courses

Part Time Students: If you are registered in below 60 percent course load per semester, you can apply for part time OSAP funding.

Students with a Permanent Disability: If you are registered with OSAP as a student with a permanent disability, you are eligible for full time funding at 40 percent course load per semester (instead of 60 percent).

If your course load changes, please contact Loyalist College Financial aid office at financialaidoffice@loyalistcollege.com.

Please note: Loans from OSAP are not available before the start of classes, so students are expected to pay deferral fees from their own resources.
