Distance Education and OSAP

Looking to apply for OSAP?

Students are required to apply for OSAP every semester courses are taken, before registration. To have registration fees deducted from OSAP, funding must be calculated, and all required documents received and processed. If you have questions about OSAP, please direct them to the Financial Aid Office (financialaidoffice@loyalistcollege.com or 613-969-1913, ext. 2226).

Please note that semester starts are September, January and May; no monthly intakes are allowed for OSAP funding.

Funding is released approximately 10 days before the class start date. After tuition is deducted, the balance of funds will be received by students during the first week of classes.


Loyalist College Distance Programs Approved for OSAP (Full-Time and Part-Time)

The following Distance programs are approved for OSAP:

Developmental Service Worker (DSWD)

  • Twenty-four courses are required for the DSWD Diploma
  • Six courses per semester is considered to be a full (100%) course load for OSAP purposes
  • Four courses (66%) per semester is the minimum to qualify for full-time OSAP
  • If taking three or fewer courses, students would apply for part-time OSAP
  • For students with a Documented Disability, three courses (50%) is the minimum to apply for full-time OSAP

Early Childhood Education (ECED)

  • Twenty-six courses are required for the ECED Diploma
  • Six courses per semester is considered to be a full (100%) course load for OSAP purposes
  • Four courses (66%) a semester is the minimum to qualify for full-time OSAP
  • If taking three or fewer courses, students would apply for part-time OSAP
  • For students with a Documented Disability, three courses (50%) is the minimum to apply for full-time OSAP

Office Administration Executive Certificate and Diploma (OFAD)

  • Fourteen courses are required for the OFAD Certificate and Twenty-eight courses for the OFAD Diploma
  • Seven courses per semester is considered to be a full (100%) course load for OSAP purposes
  • Five courses (72%) a semester is the minimum to qualify for full-time OSAP
  • If taking four or fewer courses, students would apply for part-time OSAP
  • For students with a Documented Disability, three courses (42%) is the minimum to apply for full-time OSAP

Office Administration Health Diploma (OFADH)

  • Thirty-one courses are required for the OFADH Diploma
  • Eight courses per semester is considered to be a full (100%) course load for OSAP purposes
  • Five courses (63%) a semester is the minimum to qualify for full-time OSAP
  • If taking four or fewer courses, students would apply for part-time OSAP
  • For students with a Documented Disability, four courses (50%) is the minimum to apply for full time OSAP

Office Administration Legal Diploma (OFADL)

  • Thirty-one courses are required for the OFADL Diploma
  • Seven courses per semester is considered to be a full (100%) course load for OSAP purposes
  • Five courses (72%) a semester is the minimum to qualify for full-time OSAP
  • If taking four or fewer courses, students would apply for part-time OSAP
  • For students with a Documented Disability, three courses (42%) is the minimum to apply for full-time OSAP
