SUMMARY:Orange Shirt Day
DESCRIPTION:In September 2014\, the Assembly of First Nations asked all Canadians to join First Nations in wearing an orange shirt in the spirit of healing and reconciliation. The date Sept. 30 was chosen because it is the time of year when Indigenous children were taken away from their homes and placed in residential schools. \nLoyalist College faculty\, staff and students are encouraged to wear orange on Sept. 30\, as well as throughout the week of Sept. 23 – 27\, in honour of the children of the Indian Residential School System. \n100 percent of the proceeds from the purchase of a shirt will be donated to Survivor’s Secretariat. \nLearn more about Orange Shirt Day

SUMMARY:Truth and Reconciliation Week
DESCRIPTION:Please join us in remembering the lives of the lost children and honouring the survivors of Canada’s residential school system during Truth and Reconciliation Week. \nFrom Sept. 23 – 27 and on Orange Shirt Day\, Sept. 30\, the college’s Tsi Titewaya’taró:roks team will host a series of events and educational opportunities at Loyalist’s Belleville and Port Hope locations to promote understanding of the legacy of residential schools and the significance of Orange Shirt Day. \nLoyalist encourages all students\, faculty and staff to participate in these events and join the conversation. Learning and commemorating the truth of our history from First Nations\, Métis\, and Inuit knowledge keepers is an important part of the reconciliation process. \nView the schedule
