Your Orientation Top Ten – Don’t Miss These Highlights!

  1. Exciting Events from Loyalist Life: We have an action-packed week filled with exciting events! Don’t miss out on valuable opportunities to connect with others and create lifelong memories. Stay in the loop by following @loyalistlife! 

  2. Student ID Card: Apply before you arrive and unlock the student experience with your Student ID Card! Find out how to get yours here.

  3. Virtual Pre-Orientation:
    Orientation from the comfort of home! Check out the schedule below to see all the Virtual Orientation sessions available Jan. 3 – 4.

  4. International Orientation:
    Are you an international student coming to Loyalist College? Check out our International Student Orientation page for all the programming tailored to you!

  5. Orientation Day:
    January 8 is Orientation Day, the official start of Winter Orientation. While there are no classes, all first-year students have a must-attend Academic Orientation from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm. After that, it’s time for a day packed with fun events.

  6. Free Hoodies:
    Stay cozy this winter! Students starting their first semester can score a FREE Loyalist hoodie. Swing by room 1N1 on Monday, Jan 8 during our Canada D’EH event or keep your eye out for lunch time pop ups to pick yours up throughout the week. 
     
  7. Support the Lancers: Cheer on the Loyalist Lancers Basketball teams at the very first home games of the season on Wednesday, Jan 10! Don’t miss out on the action, check out all our teams’ schedules on the Loyalist Lancers website.

  8. Record Your Name with NameCoach on Canvas: Loyalist College has teamed up with NameCoach, a user-friendly app, to help others learn to pronounce your name. Simply visit the NameCoach tab in Canvas and share a recording of the correct pronunciation of your name.

  9. Complete the Indigenous Student Declaration Form: Stand proud and strengthen the Indigenous community at Loyalist! Identification is a voluntary and confidential online process by which you identify yourself as an Indigenous student. 

  10. Cultural Showcase
    Come to the Shark Tank Pub on Fri, Jan 12 from 3 – 6 pm to sample delicious delicacies representing the diverse cultures within our student community!

Virtual Pre-Orientation Schedule:

Please Note: Loyalist College will be closed until January 3, 2024. The Pre-Orientation Sessions on January 3 and 4 are virtual and can be completed from the comfort of your home!

1 pm: Winter Orientation Welcome and Information Session

  • Ask questions and get answers! This is your introduction to all things Orientation at Loyalist College. 

2 pm: Strategies for Success

  • Discover tips and tricks to maximize your academic success and College experience.

3 pm: Introduction to Loyalist Supports and Services

  • Learn about all of the resources available to support you throughout the semester.

  • 8 am – 12 pm: Welcome Booth (Parrott Entrance & Link Lounge Entrance)
  • 10 am – 10:30 am: Official Welcome (The Gym)
  • 10:30 am – 12:30 pm: Academic Orientation (Rooms Assigned)
  • 12 pm – 4 pm: Canada D'EH (Shark Tank Patio) Featuring axe throwing, games, skating outdoors from 12 - 7 pm, and FREE Canadian delicacies to snack on poutine, hot chocolate, and s'mores. 
  • 9 pm – 1 am: Aprés Ski Pub Night (Shark Tank Pub) Come dressed up ready to hit the slopes!

Classes Start!

  • 8 am – 12 pm: Welcome Booth (Parrott Centre and Link Lounge entrances)
  • 11 am – 1 pm: Pub & Play (Shark Tank Pub) Play video games on the main stage!
  • 4 pm – 6 pm: Capture the Flag (Outside Field 1)
  • 7 pm – 10 pm: Resin Arts Workshop with Your Creative Junction (Shark Tank Pub)
  • 10 am – 10 pm: Lancers Tailgate (Shark Tank Pub) Pre-game in the Pub featuring games, face painting, and craft tables where you can design your own Lancers posters and gear!
  • 12 pm – 1 pm: Therapy Dogs Visit (Link Lounge)
  • 6 pm – 8 pm: Lancers Women's Basketball Game (Gym)
  • 8 pm – 10 pm: Lancers Men's Basketball Game (Gym)
  • 11 am – 1 pm: Pub & Play (Shark Tank Pub) Have a cozy afternoon playing board games in the Pub!
  • 11 am – 3 pm: Frost Fest (Outdoors) Enjoy some time outside! Explore our campus on snowshoes and have some outdoor fun including building snow structures, playing volleyball, tug of war, and relay races on campus. 
  • 2 pm – 7 pm: Daytime Silent Disco (Shark Tank Pub)
  • 9 pm – 12 am: Silent Disco After Dark(Shark Tank Pub
  • 11 am – 1 pm: Pub & Play (Shark Tank Pub) Enjoy an afternoon of fun playing life-sized games!
  • 3 pm – 6 pm: Cultural Showcase (Shark Tank Pub) Experience the rich diversity of our student population at interactive booths filled with cultural activities and tasty snacks, all hosted by our amazing students.
